Problem For Your Solution

Many people have become rich or famous because they found ways to solve the problems around them.

Indeed many believe we are put on earth to solve problems and make a difference – either by being a solution, meeting some needs or helping to figure out solutions to the myriads of problems that are around us.

So what happens when we find a problem to solve, a problem that we see when others are unmoved by it? Quite often, we can’t wait to talk about it with others.

A part of us wants to know whether they see what we see, sometimes we talk about it to see if they care as much as we do hoping they might want to be part of the solution.

At other times we talk about the problems because we want validation that we are not losing it or focusing on the wrong things. We also talk because we are wired to share our dreams, passions, hopes and desires with others.

As a child, I heard the story of Joseph and his coat of many colours. He was a dreamer and a would-be problem solver, but his eagerness to share his dreams led to him being treated as an enemy by his brothers and made the path to the fulfilment of his dreams tricky.

Not everyone can or will be happy for us and it would be disappointing if we spent our lives waiting for approval, validation or acceptance for the things we are called to do.

The good thing is that there will be those who will care enough to listen, love us enough to be supportive and sometimes be invested enough to join us on the mission.

We just need to find our own tribe for the things we are called to do because they will be the ones that get it and get us.

We need to be smart about who we talk to about the things we want to or are called to do because some people are wired to find problems for your solutions.

All they see are the reasons why you shouldn’t try, why it wouldn’t work and they rarely help you figure out solutions to the problems. I love how Albert Einstein put it in the quote which says, “Stay away from negative people, they have a problem for every solution.”

So what can we do?

Find people who aren’t scared of your success

There will be people around you who are busy solving their own problems and fulfilling their own God given dreams so yours don’t threaten them.

They are happy to share the world stage because they understand that there’s enough room for everyone to shine. They will cheer you on, give you sound advice and push you to succeed in solving your allocated problems.

Find people who aren’t afraid to tell you the truth

Some people love us so much that they refuse to tell us the truth we need to hear. And sometimes we are tempted to surround ourselves with such people because we don’t want to hear some hard truths.

The people who will truly help us to shine in our God given roles are those who will tell it like it is. They will help us know when we are slacking and when we are scared. Find those who aren’t afraid to help you see clearly.

Find people who have walked similar paths before you

There are many people who have learnt from their own successes and even more from their failures. And many of them would be happy to share their stories with others coming behind them. Find them.

Ultimately there are people who will help you find ‘solutions’ to your problems and there will be those who will find ‘problems’ for your solutions.

The former are needed to help you make a difference and the latter you will need to handle carefully if you want ever want to make a difference.
